Vice President (North America)
Brief job description:
  • Directs activities of the country and ensures that it operates in accordance with corporate policies and objectives
  • Analyses and appraises regularly and systematically the effectiveness of all assigned operations according to long and short term strategies
  • Studies and monitors economic and market trends likely to impact the operation of the region and implements timely strategies to safeguard the Company's interest
  • Assists the Chairman in reviewing the results of the company's business operations and in leading the company towards set objectives
  • Leads and advises heads of department in formulating and determining the general policies and programmes and how it should be carried out effectively
  • Responsible for reviewing existing operations and plans and formulating new strategies that are in line with the Headquarters' goals
  • Streamlines, directs and implements new structures, processes and systems including allocation of resources to reward and motivate staff to meet their performance targets
  • Develops programs and activities for acquisition, sales and marketing teams to secure business opportunities and achieve corporate targets
  • Any other activities or functions as assigned by the Chairman from time to time

Job requirement:

  • Good Degree / Post-grad Degree in the scientific or other related disciplines / MBA
  • Minimum 12 years in a senior management position
  • Experience in academic and preferably in STM publishing
  • Experience in publishing operations especially in editorial acquisition, sales and marketing operations
  • Academically-oriented with initiative and creativity
  • Strong networking with booksellers and/or academic professionals and researchers
  • Strong leadership with international strategic business acumen
